1981 Bedford CF Autosleeper 4 berth. In Poole DORSET

We have for sale our beloved BEDFORD CF 2300 AUTOSLEEPER which has been in owned in the family for 28 years (was bought by my grandfather when 2 years old).

It has 68,000 original miles on it and is used every day for commuting to work (30 mile round trip). This van has been very well mechanically maintained for all of its life with no expense spared.

The van feels like new to drive and is very sure footed on the road with no knocks, rattles or play in the steering, suspension. The brakes are also very strong.

The engine rattles when you start it up for 15 seconds until the oil pump pressure comes up (normal I have come to learn for a Bedford 2300 - but quite alarming if you don’t know about this Bedford quirk!). No smoke on start-up and no rattle when oil pressure is up.

Tyres are all nearly new and in very good shape.

As far as the camper side of things, it has a full custom set of seat covers throughout, the original gold Autosleeper covering is underneath and has worn through in some places - All cushions and both sets of covers were washed and steam cleaned earlier this year and hence have no odours - as with the original curtains that have all been cleaned too.

Original carpet is still in place – is clean but could do with a carpet shampoo.

Everything works:-

·         Two way fridge / gas + 12 Volt off main battery

·         I have fitted an auxiliary battery and a charging controller to ensure that you always have a fully charged spare just in case.

·         Carver catalytic heater works perfectly and heats the van nicely

·         All cupboard, handles and doors are all in perfect operation - no repairs ever.

·         Skylight and vent in bathroom all work perfectly

·         Water tank has electric level meter and 12 volt pump for tap- works perfectly

·         Has a Porta-Potti in the toilet which was new last year

·         Cooker and oven works perfectly.

·         All lights and electrics work including 12v socket.

The back of the toilet wall (carpet) has some mildew darkening where it was parked for a winter with a leaky vent - this was fixed a long time ago and is now totally dry.

The back of the toilet wood facing the back door has got some sun damage on the veneer - should be an easy fix if you know what you are doing.

The edges of the table and the sink lid are a little tatty where the melamine strip has peeled off in places - easy to fix though I am told.

The van is a four berth. You can either have two long single beds or a double with space for two children up in the pull out bed above.

I have fitted a child safety net to stop toddlers falling out (have tested!)

The van has the usual Autosleeper configuration option of two sideways two seater bench seats or two forward facing rear seats.

The van has 2 lap belts fitted on the passenger side bench seat. This way you can travel with 4 adults and 2 children in the child seats side by side safely.

The van has a CD/Radio too.

The bodywork looks very good, but has the usual scrapes, rust spots and stone chips. It has had bits and bobs touched up over the years.

The inside bottom of both of the front doors have rust holes but this is an easy repair and I have already quarterized the wounds with Jenolite. the exterior of the front doors are good. Back doors are a little rust bubbly at the bottom - again an easy fix.

All round this is a very reliable, well appointed and quite spacious van that can be used year round and will keep going for donkeys years. And best of all its in 80’s beige which looks very cool – we get lots of compliments on the van!

I am selling it as we want to upgrade to get a much bigger A-class motor home.

£3250 or near offer - please email / phone for more pictures.

Sorry its sold!
